As the holiday season approaches as well as the ne plus ultra shopping day of the year, Black Friday, Google and AmEx OPEN have joined forces to spread the word about supporting small businesses during this time of edacity. Because most holiday shoppers are enticed by the larger chains' almost iniquitously cheap deals, AmEx created Small Business Saturday to create more demand for small businesses' products and services.

Doing business as (DBA) filing is an official way to register a business name
A fictitious business name (or DBA name) is a business name that differs from the personal name(s) of the owner(s) of the business or the officially registered name of your business. Using a DBA name can be an effective way to brand your business and allows a sole proprietor, corporation or LLC to name the business something other than the legal name, which in the case of a sole proprietor is the name of the individual.

Apple launches its latest addition to the Apple family, the iPhone 4S, and is expected to be the best selling version to date. Google announces that it is shutting down its social network, Buzz, as well as Google Labs. A new government deal with the cellphone industry will provide cell phone users with warnings before exceeding plan limits. Experts expect the Blackberry service outage to cost RIM over $100 million.
